Your Royal Meteorological Society membership is due for renewal on 1 January 2025. Please log in to your online member account to view your renewal notice for 1 January 2025 – 31 December 2025.

Thank you for being a valued Member of the Royal Meteorological Society. Your loyalty and support provide important societal benefits and play a vital role in helping us to deliver on our mission to advance the understanding of weather and climate and its application for the benefit of all. In short, we couldn’t do it without you.

What your support has achieved

As you receive your renewal invoice in your Member Dashboard, please take a moment to consider the profound impact of your support on our charitable work over the past year:

Advancements in Scientific Knowledge: Central to our mission is to advance understanding of weather and climate for the benefit of all, and your support has played a vital role in this. So far in 2024, you have enabled academics to publish 700 articles through RMetS journals. These articles, which have been accessed more than 1.7 million times, are crucial to advancing global efforts to address climate change.

Careers for Climate guide: In 2024, we published a guide that equips readers with the resources needed to be part of the solution to the climate crisis. With guidance for individuals entering the world of work, to advice from professionals in a broad range of roles which have a positive impact on climate change, the guide demonstrates the many exciting pathways into a career for climate.

Knowledge and Networking: By the end of 2024, we will have brought thousands of weather and climate enthusiasts, academics, and professionals together through 57 unique events. This provided opportunities for knowledge sharing, professional growth, and collaboration within our field. 2024 also saw the launch of the first ever RMetS Weather and Climate Conference, which we will be running again in 2025.

Climate Education: Your contribution has fuelled the development of an innovative tool designed to support educators in identifying opportunities to teach climate more broadly within the curriculum. The Climate Change Concept Association Tool, stemming from our belief that all students should leave school with some climate literacy irrespective of their subject and qualification choices, maps around 300 climate concepts and the linkages between them. The interactive tool has also seen uptake among other communicators who have found it valuable in planning climate communication initiatives.

State of the Climate for the UK Energy Sector: Building on our work to engage industry and shape a more equitable future for all, 2024 also saw the launch of the first State of the Climate for the UK Energy Sector report. The publication, which augments the energy justice conversation with valuable information on the resilience of the UK energy system, has received strong uptake among energy sector stakeholders and academics.

This is a small selection of RMetS initiatives that have been made possible only through your support in the last year, and we have many activities planned for 2025—including the Society’s 175th Anniversary, which we’re excited to celebrate with you.
