Manchester and Liverpool John Lennon airports closed their runways due to heavy snow on Sunday. Both airports subsequently reopened, but travel delays continued due to bad weather. An amber warning for snow, covering most of northern England including Leeds, Sheffield and the Lake District, has been issued by the Met Office.
